The Cambodian Minister of Trade met with the Australian counterpart to discuss opportunities and ways in which trade and investment could be boosted in the country.

The Cambodian Minister of Trade, Pan Sosak, and the Australian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Investment, Dan Tehan, and the Australian ambassador to Cambodia, met via video conference on October 25 to discuss bilateral trade between the two countries. They discussed trade within the framework of international trade partners.

The two ministers discussed and exchanged views on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) of which both countries are members. Minister Sosak also informed his counterpart on the completion of the domestic procedure on the ratification of the Cambodia-ASEAN Agreement. Minister Sosak stated that the successful ASEAN chairing by Cambodia hinges on the cooperation and support of the member states, especially of the ASEAN Secretariat.

Minister Tehan, congratulated Cambodia on its appointment as the ASEAN Chair for 2022 and expressed support and readiness to assist Cambodia in fulfilling the role. The Minister also congratulated Cambodia for the success of its vaccination program.
