Mr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, says that the Kampot International Tourism Port will be an important international gateway for attracting national and international tourists, and will be completed by the end of 2021.

The Minister made his remarks as he inspected construction the Tourism Port”, located in Teuk Chhou District, Kampot Province.

The construction of this international tourist port started on August 8, 2018 and the site is about 84% completed while the work of the passenger building has reached about 73%, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021..

The International Tourism Port Construction Project is a financing project of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of the GMS TIIG No. 3194-CAM (COL) Tourism Growth Infrastructure Development Project for the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).

This is under the control of the sub-project implementation unit of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The seaport is 300 metres long and capable of accommodating vessels carrying 300 to 400 passengers.

The port is an international tourist port that is planned to accommodate about 1 million tourists and passengers.

This port is structured according to international standards.

The port will be an important international gateway by sea, connecting tourists to the southern islands and connecting Kampot province of Cambodia to the world.

Through this port, it will further promote the development of tourism and related sectors in Kampot province, Bokor mountain resort and Cambodia’s coastal tourist destinations.
