Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport expressed his deep congratulations to Chinese friends on the successful launch of the Beiduo GPS satellite system worldwide and welcomed the companies that are preparing to open their representative offices in Cambodia for the use of this GPS satellite system in the ASEAN region to participate in ensuring the safety of both land and water transport.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport and China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on BeiDou GPS, Remote Sensing and Road Map System in Cambodia on November 25, 2020.

Chanthol stated that the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia is ready to cooperate in promoting the use of Beidou GPS satellite system in Cambodia for the benefit of transportation and also plans to raise this topic.

The ASEAN Transport Ministers ‘Meeting, the ASEAN-Korea Transport Ministers’ Meeting, the ASEAN-China Transport Ministers ‘Meeting and the ASEAN-Japan Transport Ministers’ Meeting, which Cambodia plans to host in November 2021 in Angkor.

The Senior Minister also requested the company to promote the installation of 550 BeiDou GPS units on time so that the Ministry can get experience and have a basis to promote its use in Cambodia and can also be used to discuss with ASEAN Transport Minister at the end of 2021.

The Senior Minister expressed strong hope that all neighboring countries in ASEAN will be interested in using this GPS system together. Khmer Times
