Cambodia Prioritises Fighting Covid-19 with Three Main Tasks
Prime Minister Hun Sen announced Tuesday three main tasks the Royal Government has done and continued to do in order to win battle against Covid-19.
Speaking in a press conference on Covid-19 held at the Peace Palace this 7 April 2020, the premier said Cambodia works to prevent external cases of Covid-19; prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the local community; and treat all the patients to full recoveries.
As of 7 April 2020, the Kingdom has confirmed 115 cases of Covid-19 so far; 58 recovered in total.
Despite the small number of reported cases, Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered to purchase 10 million face masks; 5,000 chemical protective clothing; 5,000 N95 masks and one million liters of sanitiser to distribute to Cambodian people and doctors nationwide.
In a voice message addressed to National Committee for Combatting Covid-19 on Saturday, the premier emphasised that despite the current situation of Covid-19 outbreak, Cambodia must ensure the sufficiency of face masks, protective clothing and sanitiser.
“Possessing sufficient medical equipment supplies is necessary as we cannot allow any doctor to be infected due to our lacks of responsibility,” said the premier.
The World Health Organisation subsequently called on the general public to follow standard hygiene precautions, including regular hand hygiene, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing and avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
