Koh Tonsay tourism port, on the Koh Tonsay Island, four kilometres off Kep province’s mainland, is set to undergo a groundbreaking ceremony n mid-October. The project will take 15 months to complete.

The Koh Tonsay tourism port is part of ADB’s Greater Mekong Subregion Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project phase II, according to a report by Kep Provincial Administration.

The construction of the Koh Tonsay tourism port will cost $1.6 million and will be constructed by a local firm – Vimean Chey Group.

The port construction was discussed at a virtual meeting held on September 30 with participation from officials from Kep Provincial Administration, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Public Works and Transports, The Ministry of Tourism, representatives of the Asian Development Bank, and the contracted firm.

The construction activities are set for Oct 14 and it is scheduled to take the next 15 months to complete –by Jan 15, 2023.

The province is currently renovating an onshore international tourist port, located across the Chhak Kep bay from Koh Tonsay Island.

Currently, the port is about 80 percent completed. Khmer Times
