Today, August 3, marks the third day of the massive vaccination program for minors from 12 to 17 years old.

The National Ad-hoc Committee for Covid-19 Vaccination reported that in the first 2 days of the vaccination program, 79,676 people got their first jabs. That number is expected to surpass 80,000 today.

The statistics point out that that number represent 4.05% of the targeted almost 2 million children to be vaccinated.

The vaccination campaign for under-18s was launched in Phnom Penh on August 1 with Prime Minister Hun Sen presiding over the affair. The vaccination program is voluntary and is currently in motion in Kandal, Preah Sihanouk, and Koh Kong.

As of August 2, 7,418,453 adults have received their first shots, which represents 74.18% of the targeted 10 million, among that number, 4,927,876 people have been fully vaccinated.

The vaccination program is part of the stepping stone to finally getting the virus under control in the Kingdom and restoring normalcy to the disruption on social and economic activities.
