Cambodia and France have expressed their satisfaction with the bilateral trade and investment cooperation, particularly during the diplomatic mission of H.E. Ms. Eva Nguyen Binh.

The commendation was made during the farewell meeting here yesterday between Cambodian Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak and H.E. Ms. Eva Nguyen Binh, French Ambassador to Cambodia.

H.E. Pan Sorasak profoundly thanked H.E. Ms. Eva Nguyen Binh for her efforts to strengthen and enhance trade cooperation between both countries during her diplomatic mission in Cambodia.

H.E. Minister also expressed his gratitude to the French government for its grant, via the French Development Agency (AFD), to support Cambodia’s post COVID-19 tourism recovery.

Moreover, H.E. Pan Sorasak affirmed the ministry’s readiness to facilitate French businesses and investment in Cambodia, especially in the areas of food processing, agricultural produce (fresh fruit) and tourism.

For her part, the outgoing French ambassador praised the Royal Government of Cambodia’s endeavors, through the Ministry of Commerce, in promoting economic diversification, legal and regulation reforms, and institutional building.

H.E. Ms. Eva Nguyen Binh also congratulated Cambodia on the hosting of the 13th ASEM Summit later this year and ASEAN Summits and Related Meetings in 2022, which will contribute to further bolstering the cooperation between Cambodia and France both in the bilateral and regional frameworks.

Figures from the Ministry of Commerce show that bilateral trade between Cambodia and France was valued at US$456 million in 2020, and US$157 million for the first four months of this year.
