The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC) is urging all mobile network operators in Cambodia to promptly implement a unified feature code to make it easy for mobile phone users to check their subscribed services.

The announcement was made by MPTC after receiving complaints from mobile phone users about missing phone credit and subscription to mobile services they did not subscribe to.

“This code will allow mobile phone users to check for or unsubscribe unwanted services. It is a way to avoid any reduction of their phone credit, which has adversely affected consumers,” said the statement.

It said the unified feature code has already been created and is waiting for implementation by mobile network operators.

According to MPTC’s Telecommunication Regulator Cambodia, there are six mobile network operators – CamGSM, Smart Axiata, Viettel (Cambodia), Seatel, Cadcomms, and Xin Wei – who are currently providing services in Cambodia.

Many mobile network providers offer a variety of services for users; exchanging money, downloading call tunes, playing the lottery, music, checking horoscopes, sports news, loan services and making outward calls without showing caller ID.

Due to the variety of services offered, MPTC has encouraged all users to learn more about the services and packages provided by mobile network operators to avoid any unintended credit reduction.

The latest report by TRC said there were over 21 million SIM cards registered in the Kingdom at the end of 2019.
