PM Hun Sen Reconfirms His Candidacy for Next Year’s General Election

Samdech Techo Hun Sen has reconfirmed his Prime Minister candidacy for the general election in 2023.

Addressing to the official inauguration ceremony of Chom Chao flyover and underpass in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said after holding this position for four decades, he will continue to be the candidate for Prime Minister from the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) for the next national election.

The Premier underlined that his eldest son, Gen. Hun Manet, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, is the party’s reserve candidate.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen has become Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia since 1985. Since then, he brought about many remarkable achievements, laying the basis for the implementation of peace, national reconciliation, and the development of Cambodia. Through his willing contribution and efforts, Samdech Techo Prime Minister proved an indispensable architect of the Paris Peace Agreement on Cambodia and full peace in late 1998. AKP
