The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts with ASEAN diplomats and partner countries join the tree planting and cycling program for the celebration of Siem Reap-ASEAN City of Culture

The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia’s initiative as chair of AMCA 2020-2022, in collaboration with ASEAN diplomats and partner countries to join the tree planting and cycling program at Angkor World Heritage Site on the morning of 11 October 2021, presided by H.E Mr. Sum Map, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and High Representative of H.E Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.

H.E Mr. Sum Map, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, stated that Siem Reap was selected as the ASEAN City of Culture for 2020-2022 through the 9th Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers in charge of Culture and Arts because Siem Reap, the former capital of Khmer Empire, is rich in both tangible and intangible cultural heritage as well as a world-famous tourism destination. In particular, the tree planting and cycling event in Angkor, a World Heritage Site, is an event organized by the Ministry of Culture to show the potential of Siem Reap, Cambodia’s famous cultural city to ASEAN member states.
