Senior Education Ministry official today announced that the ministry will request Prime Minister Hun Sen to allow some high-safety standard schools to reopen next month.

The Education Ministry said that it is in the process of reopening schools, after more than three months of shutdown as part of the efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ministry spokesman Ros Soveacha said that the ministry has met with the Ministry of Health and relevant ministries to discuss school reopening.

He said that based on the meeting result, education institutions must ensure that health standards, such as class environment are met. These include social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands, and taking body temperatures.

Soveacha added that some students should attend class, and others study online with approval from parents.

“After getting experience of the first step, the ministry will continue for the second step and the third step, we reopen the school,” he said. Khmer Times
