Cambodia has selected more agricultural products for export to China, Cambodian senior official said, underlining that the negotiations on exporting the products are scheduled to start in the near future.

Speaking to reporters after the signing ceremony of the protocol of phytosanitary requirements for fresh mango export from Cambodia to China held here on June 9, Mr. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, said that the selected agricultural products, including longan, pineapple, bird’s nest, pomelo, and durian, are on the list of prioritised products to be negotiated with the Chinese side.

“Beside mango, we are now selecting a number of fruits to be brought for negotiations with China,” he continued.

Based on experience of the successful talks on the exports of banana and mango with China, the future talks on other products will not take long time to reach the deal, claimed Mr. Minister.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Mr. Wang Wentian said on the occasion that Cambodia is rich in potential fruits which are in high demand in China.

“I hope that more agricultural products from Cambodia, after mangos, will reach the Chinese market.” The ambassador said. “Officials from both sides will continue working together to boost the export of more agricultural products from Cambodia to China.”

Currently, Cambodia exports rice, cassava slices, and banana to China.
