Ministry issues action projects for wastewater
Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, has issued an action plan for wastewater management.
This will ensure the implementation of projects related to the management of the filtration system to maintain the beauty of cities and the wellbeing of its people.
Chanthol launched the action plan at a meeting on Monday on relevant wastewater projects at the ministry.
Its official Facebook page said the meeting was to look at current and future projects to effectively manage and organize project management and project implementation so wastewater management is smooth, efficient, and effective.
“The wastewater management system action plan is an important task that we must focus on to maintain beauty, welfare, and economic growth,” Chanthol said.
He said the ministry currently has several projects with the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank to accelerate the implementation of the Ministry’s National Action Plan and National Development Plan to achieve green cities.
“The master plan for the wastewater management system in Preah Sihanouk province has already been set up and all three sewage pumping stations that have been studied.
“This includes canal rehabilitation and the need to accelerate construction and rehabilitation as soon as possible to maintain the increasing tourist arrivals to this coastal province,” he said.
Chanthol also told officials to meet regularly to study new techniques, relevant legal norms, and organize a working group to manage and direct implementation teams, and to work together to achieve the highest efficiency to maintain the beauty, welfare and sustainable development of the Kingdom.
Ministry spokesman Kong Vimean confirmed on Tuesday that the ministry had instructed the new General Department of Wastewater Management to prepare legal documents and other work related to wastewater treatment systems.
“Some projects involving wastewater management, which were previously under the direct control of the ministry, will be diverted to the General Department of Wastewater Management,” he said.
