The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has registered 15 investment projects, totaling $526 million and once successfully implemented, will be creating more than 8,500 jobs.

Projects include; transformer assembly and assembly plants, switchboard assembly, a footwear factory, solar panel production and assembly, all types of wiring (wires, cables) and assembly installation of metre boxes, a hair design factory, a tyre factory and all kinds of tyre bicycle components, cars, construction, data centres, garments and clothing production, cassava starch, cassava processing, banana farm, hotel, beverage factor and a medical clinic.

Kepstar Data Centre’s executive director Joseph Tang, told Khmer Times that Kepstar is delighted to receive approval from the CDC with regards to their application. “We are preparing to start the construction phase with our engineers, consultants and partners,” Tang said.

Outlining that the current timeline for construction work starts in the second half of 2020 and is aiming to be completed by the first half of 2022. “Our first phase consists of a pair of Tier III Co-location data centres, with a combined power capacity of around 10 MW,” he said.

“We are excited to play a role in supporting the Kingdom to move forward with digital transformation. For the past few years, we have seen many promising digital economy companies, particularly Online to Offline companies (O2O), rolling out their services in the Cambodian market. In addition. ride-hailing, e-payments and many others are bringing convenience to the day-to-day life of the Cambodian people,” he added. Khmer Times
