PM Announces Portion of Lvea Aem District to be Part of Phnom Penh
Prime Minister Hun Sen today announced that a part of Lvea Aem district, Kandal province, located east of Chatumok river will be upgraded to a district of Phnom Penh.
The announcement was made amid the construction of a bridge crossing the Mekong river linking Chroy Chongva area to Arey Ksat area, Lvea Aem district, Kandal province which has been revealed to be built in the upcoming days.
Speaking at the religious ceremony held today at Monysovann pagoda, the premier said that upgrading a part of Lvea Aem district to become a district in Phnom Penh is because of the fast development and urbanization in Phnom Penh.
“That area is originally located in Kandal province, but due to the development in Phnom Penh, some parts of land in that area are soon to be separated and to be linked to Phnom Penh and in the future, more parts [land] will be upgraded as well,” he said.
The upgrade of land in Lvea Aem district will be made after the construction of a bridge linking Chroy Chongva area to Arey Ksat ares. With the announcement, it will push the price of land in Akreiy Ksatr area to increase, Mr. Hun Sen said.
The government has unveiled projects building two bridges to Arey Ksat area, one will be built linking from Chroy Chongva area and another one will be built from National Road number 1.
Earlier this month, Mr Hun Sen stated Arey Ksat and Svay Chrom areas will become a satellite city in the future, notably after the bridges finish construction.
