More than 1.77 million people vaccinated against Covid-19 in Cambodia
A report released by the Ministry of National Defense revealed that from February 10 to May 9, a total of 1,773,994 people have been vaccinated throughout the country, including armed forces and their families.
A huge number is from the mass vaccination campaign being carried out by the armed forces in Phnom Penh’s Red Zones since May 1.
Those vaccinated includes members of the diplomatic corps and their staff and family members as well as expatriates working in Cambodia and possess legal working documents and visa.
Cambodia is expected to take delivery of another 1.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines from China this month and this is expected to give further impetus to the Government’s efforts to vaccinate up to 80 percent of Cambodia’s population
This move has out Cambodia second behind Singapore on the rate of inoculations, despite being ravaged by the virus, economic impacts brought about by removal of trade privileges and the depressed global economy, particularly for its biggest exports, garments as well as the death of foreign tourism for the time being.
