Another 500k Doses of Sinovac Vaccine Arrive in Cambodia
Cambodia’s drive to vaccinate up to 80 percent of its population gained momentum when another 500,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine, arrived in Cambodia this morning.
This is the third delivery of Sinovac vaccine, the first dose of 1.5 million doses was delivered to Cambodia on March 26 and the second on April 17.
To date, Cambodia has received more than 4 million doses of vaccines, including: 1.7 million doses of Sinopharm which is a grant from the Chinese government, 2 million doses of Sinovac purchased from China, and 324,000 doses of AstraZenica vaccine, provided through the Covax initiative.
Cambodia started vaccinating people on February 10, and so far, more than 1.8 million people have been vaccinated. Prime Minister Hun Sen has stated that he will seek more than 20 million doses of vaccines for more than 10 million people to build immunity.
Another 500,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine is scheduled to arrive on May 15. Cambodia is ranked behind Singapore for its success in vaccination efforts to build immunity against Covid-19.
