Phnom Penh, September 28, 2025 — H.E. Heng Ratana, Director General of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), has confirmed that the bomb and artillery shell craters recently documented in Preah Vihear Province are the direct remnants of the five-day armed conflict between Cambodia and Thailand from July 24–28, 2025.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, H.E. Heng Ratana described the photographs of the craters as “truly historical records” of the recent clashes. He noted that CMAC technical teams, in cooperation with international experts, had conducted detailed surveys, identification, and marking of the sites.

“These bombs or craters are NOT from previous conflicts in 1970–73 as accused and labeled by the opposite side of this conflict,” he clarified. “Cambodia is ONLY telling the truth to the world.”

The confirmation comes amid ongoing disputes over the origins of the attacks, with some Thai sources attempting to attribute the damage to earlier decades of conflict. CMAC’s findings, backed by expert verification, reinforce Cambodia’s position that the recent hostilities were the cause of the destruction observed in the affected areas.
