PM: New Year 2022 a major test for Cambodia’s COVID-19 situation

Prime Minister Hun Sen said that the 2022 Global New Year is once again an important test for the Royal Government of Cambodia in reopening the country while facing Covid-19 cases, especially of the Omicron variant.

The Prime Minister made this remark during the ground-breaking ceremony for the launch of the NR 48 improvement project this morning.

“I would like to take this opportunity of the beginning of the year should mention some issues, first I would like to send congratulations to the people across the country, authorities at all levels, the armed forces of all kinds who participated in the celebration of the Global New Year, which is an important test for the Royal Government,” the Premier said.

Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his happiness that people throughout the nation were able to celebrate the Global New Year despite the pandemic.

The Premier also expressed surprise that some Cambodians stayed in resorts that cost up $3,000, and pointed out that this is a sign that the economic situation of the Cambodian people has improved.

Mr Hun Sen stated that the fact that most Cambodians chose to celebrate the New Year in Cambodia despite being able afford going abroad, will boost the economy. Khmer Times
