Ministry of Health of Cambodia has said that a 65-year-old woman, who had earlier contracted COVID-19 while aboard the Viking Cruise Journey vessel, has tested negative twice for the disease and will be allowed to leave the hospital today.

She had tested positive for COVID-19 in Kompong Cham on March 10 and was transferred to Phnom Penh’s hospital on the 11th.

Another three of her fellow cruise mates were tested positive on 11 March and 13 March and are still undergoing treatment.

The British national is the second COVID-19 victim in Cambodia to be cured and released from the hospital.

The fist was Cambodia’s first patient, a 60-year-old Chinese male who had tested positive on 10 January at Sihanoukville. He has been treated, cured and discharged.

He has since left the country back to China.

Treatment is believed to comprise antiretroviral drugs and antibiotics.
