The general public aged 18 years old and above will receive their 3rd dose or booster dose against the COVID-19 pandemic at public health bases from Oct. 11 onwards by starting from Phnom Penh capital, announced the Ministry of Health this evening.

The gap between the 2nd jab and 3rd jab is at least four months, the announcement underlined, adding that Sinovac vaccine will be used for the booster dose.

Necessary documents to get the booster shot are COVID-19 vaccination card and Khmer identity card or the document used for registration for the 1st dose, it pointed out.

According to the source, 11 of the 14 Khan of Phnom Penh capital will launch the booster vaccination campaign on Oct. 11 while three others (Daun Penh, Chroy Changvar, and Prek Pnov) and Kandal province will begin on Oct. 30.

Other provinces will kick off their respective campaigns between Nov. 8 and Dec. 16.

The Ministry of Health reminded each individual to continue implementing the “3 Dos, 3 Don’ts” measure even though they had received the booster dose.

Booster doses have been so far administered to more than 800,000 people who are frontline health personnel and officials, senior officials, local officials and the over-60s.

Cambodia has been conducting three other COVID-19 vaccination campaigns: for the 18 years old and up, the 12 to under 18 years old, and the 6 to under 12 years old.

Cambodia has now vaccinated over 76 percent of the total population of 16 million.
