APSARA National Authority restors Angkor Wat’s western embankment
APSARA National Authority has begun the work to restore Angkor Wat’s embankment on the south of the causeway. The restoration aims to enhance the value of the ancient structures and maintain the level of water in the moat.
Mr. Mao Sokny, Technical Officer of the Department of Conservation of Monuments in Angkor Park and Preventive Archeology, said the restoration project has a total length of 200 meters, divided into three phases, and we will take three years to restore.
Various projects of Angkor Wat’s embankment had also been conducted by EFEO, Italian, and Indian experts.
