Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Wednesday evening that seven million people in the country had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine so far.

Elderly woman Chan Khim, living in northwestern Siem Reap province, was the seven millionth person to be vaccinated, he said, adding that he gifted her 10 million riels (2,500 U.S. dollars) and some relief items for being the special recipient.

“To date, we have provided COVID-19 vaccines to 7 million people, or 70 percent, of the 10 million targeted adult population,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.

The Southeast Asian nation launched an anti-COVID-19 inoculation drive on Feb. 10, with China being the key vaccine supplier.

The country has three COVID-19 vaccines approved for emergency use so far, namely China’s Sinopharm and Sinovac as well as Britain’s AstraZeneca.

Cambodia reported 766 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, pushing the national total caseload to 75,152, the health ministry said, adding that 15 new fatalities were recorded, taking the overall death toll to 1,339. Enditem
