The Cambodian Development Council (CDC) approves 70 projects with a total capital investment of $ 2.428 billion in the first half of this year, as reflected in a CDC statement issued on social media from January to June. It approved 29 investment projects in textiles, garments, footwear and travel goods, with a capital investment of $ 194.71 million.

The council also gave a green signal to four furniture factories with a capital investment of $ 55.6 million.

The textile, garment, footwear and travel goods sectors accounted for most of the value of the new project, followed by electrical and automotive components, said Lim Heng, vice president of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce.

Heng argued that the government’s 10 million vaccination campaigns would also contribute to investment growth, as investors are not worried about the impact on their businesses.

According to the CDC, investment approval in 2019 was $ 9.40 billion, of which China invested $ 2.75 billion, followed by Hong Kong at $ 912.55 million and Japan at $ 298.84 million.
