PHNOM PENH — Cambodia’s National Assembly has issued a statement strongly condemning what it describes as “immoral, indecent, and inhumane acts” committed by certain Thai individuals against Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the President of the Senate and Acting Head of State.

The Assembly declared that such behavior is a “serious insult to human dignity” and undermines the spirit of friendship and peaceful coexistence between Cambodia and Thailand. It emphasized that these actions contradict the values shared by the neighboring countries as members of ASEAN and the global community.

The statement praised Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s composed and wise response on October 6. His reaction was highlighted as a demonstration of high moral integrity and a spirit of reconciliation, patience, and forgiveness.

Despite the “deliberate and unethical provocations,” Hun Sen called on all Cambodians to:

– Remain calm and respond with dignity.
– Uphold national unity.
– Strengthen Cambodia’s economic sovereignty by promoting the national currency.

Noting that these insulting acts by a “small group of ill-intentioned individuals” have continued openly, the National Assembly has formally called upon the Government of Thailand.

It urged Thai authorities to take “immediate and effective measures” to prevent these acts from recurring, consistent with the responsibilities of a civilized nation committed to moral values and good neighborliness.
