Japan Denies Rumors of Supplying Combat Drones to Thailand
Phnom Penh, August 6, 2025 — The Embassy of Japan in Cambodia has officially denied circulating rumors that the Government of Japan intends to supply combat drones to Thailand, categorically stating that such claims are entirely false and unfounded.
In a formal statement issued today, the Embassy clarified that the Japanese government has neither planned nor received any request to provide combat drones or similar military equipment to Thailand. The Embassy emphasized that Japan’s assistance to foreign countries is strictly confined to non-military fields and areas unrelated to international conflict, in line with its longstanding pacifist principles.
“We would appreciate it if such false information is not further disseminated,” the statement read, urging the public and media to refrain from spreading misinformation that may inflame tensions or disrupt regional stability.
Moreover, the Government of Japan reiterated its strong support for the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, emphasizing the importance of its effective implementation and the early restoration of peace along the border areas.
“We sincerely hope that the people of Cambodia can soon return to a peaceful daily life,” the Embassy concluded, reaffirming Japan’s commitment to peace, stability, and constructive diplomacy in Southeast Asia.
