The Japanese Government on Friday said it will provide aid worth US$ 817,756 to two non-governmental organisations in Cambodia to raise awareness about environment issues and fight violence against children in schools.

According to Japan’s embassy in Phnom Penh, US$ 120,461 will be given to non-profit organisation Nature Center Risen to promote and raise awareness of environment issues.

It said US$ 697,295 will be given to Save the Children Japan to implement programms to eliminate violence against children in schools in Kampong Cham in Cambodia.

Japan’s Ambassador Mikami Masahiro and representatives from the two organizations signed the agreements and expressed thanks to the government of Japan.

He said that while large-scale projects like Sihanoukville port, National Road No.5 and 20 billion yen loan for combatting Covid-19 are often focused in the media, it is still one of the priorities for the Government of Japan to work with local governments and Japanese NGOs to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life in the provinces in Cambodia.
