PM: Koh Kong will have more SEZ than other provinces in the southwest
While speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for the improvement project of National Road no. 48 this morning, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that Koh Kong will have the most special economic zones (SEZ) in the southwest region of the country.
“In order to expand and improve this road to become a resilience that can serve the economic growth for the benefit of the forecasts and projects that are happening, and in the future, Koh Kong will have the most special economic zone among the provinces in the southwest,” Mr Hun Sen said.
The improvement project on NR 48 is important because it is an important infrastructure of the Second Economic Pole, which includes: Preah Sihanouk, Kep, Kampot and Koh Kong provinces, which are industrial, eco-tourism and coastal areas. This road connects with National Road No. 10, which is under construction, and connects Pursat, Battambang and Pailin to the coast of Cambodia,
With the connection and ease of travel trade and travel to Koh Kong will boost its economical capacity and create more jobs. With Koh Kong poised to be the hub of economical activity in the Second Economic Pole and to have the most SEZ out of all the southwestern provinces the improvement of NR 48 will play a huge part in facilitating the province’s rise towards economical success.
