December 29 should be listed in the calendar to mark the government’s win-win policy
Prime Minister Hun Sen said that December 29 should be listed in a Cambodian calendar in a bid to celebrate the government’s win-win policy when years of armed conflicts came to an end.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Defence Ministry’s administrative building today, Mr Hun Sen said “ December 29 should be listed in the calendar as the day to mark a complete end of the war. It is very important. 23 years have allowed us to build our economy.”
“ We list it in the calendar but we do not have a holiday on that day,” he said, noting the peace does not belong to the Cambodian People’s Party, but it belonged to all the people.
December 29, 1998, was a day when the last remaining Khmer Rouge soldiers were reintegrated into the government, and years of war ended. Khmer Times
