Ministry of Rural Development plants more than 4,000 palm trees and bamboo district as part of rehabilitation
The Minister of Rural Development launched the rehabilitation project of the flooded forests in Kampong Chhnang which will focus on the reforesting of three areas.
The Minister Ouk Rabun, who also serves as the Chairman of the National Task Force for Strengthening Kampong Chhnang, collaborated with the Ministry of Land Management, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment and Kampong Chhnang Provincial Administration to launch a campaign to plant more than 4,000 palm trees and bamboo plants.
The campaign will reforest the swamp forests in three areas in Chronok Commune, Kampong Leng District, Kampong Cham, which borders Kampong Thom. The campaign was launched on the morning of December 14.
Minister Rabun said, “Today (December 14), we have cooperated with the relevant ministries and the Peaceful Youth Coalition, the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, districts and provinces, government officials around the province, students and the armed forces to plant thousands of palm trees and bamboo trees in the three areas of the state to increase the flooded forest as a fish sanctuary around the Tonle Sap Lake to be as abundant as before.”
The Minister stated that the crackdown on those involved with deforestation and encroachment of Tonle Sap’s swamp forests. Khmer Times
