As all schools across the country prepare to reopen on November 1, Siem Reap provincial authorities have reminded educational establishments at all levels to strictly adhere to health measures to prevent a recurrence of Covid-19 outbreak.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport on October 21 permitted public and private schools at all levels to reopen from November 1 onwards, but it required that schools limit the number of students to only 15-20 per classroom.

In case students or teachers contract the coronavirus, those who have been in contact with them must take tests and undergo a 14-day quarantine, while classes will continue as normal. All schools must follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the ministry.

In Siem Reap, governor Tea Seiha said his province will follow the ministry’s decision and SOP.

“The provincial administration has already permitted 173 schools to reopen in the first [trial] phase. For this second phase, we will allow schools at all levels, both public and private, to reopen from November 1,” he said. Phnom Penh Post
