To prevent the further spread of Covid-19 in the province, Siem Reap’s authorities facilitated free food delivery services for the residents of “red zones” who are not permitted to leave their homes.

Siem Reap’s Mayor, Nuon Putheara, told a radio station that the residents in the blocked areas in the various districts throughout the province and communes of the city have complied with the measures implemented to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

The mayor stated that in order to alleviate some of the challenges that residents of the blocked may face, the provincial administration is considering ways to alleviate those burdens. One of the helps that the administration has provided is the free delivery of food to residents in blocked areas, in “red” and “yellow zones.” In order to increase the speed and efficiency of transporting goods, the Seam Reap City Administration permitted 2 more courier service companies to operate within the red and yellow zones.

The couriers are required to be tested before entering the blocked areas. The medical teams have tested 223 delivery men so far and none of them are positive. Khmer Times
