No fear about shortage of vaccines, 1.5 million doses of Sinovac arriving on March 26
The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, has announced this morning that 1.5 million doses of Sinovac vaccines purchased by the Cambodian government will arrive in Cambodia on March 26, one week from today.
In a special message today, Mr Hun Sen stated: “If there is no change, the vaccines will arrive in Cambodia on March 26. “We have bought 1.5 million doses of Sinovac vaccines”
He added that in addition to the vaccine, there is also a donation of 400,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine from Chinese friends, which is expected to be received before the Khmer New Year.
Mr Hum Sen had requested a Vaccination Commission headed by Secretary of State O Vandin and spokesperson for the Ministry of Health to give priority to those over 60 in Phnom Penh, an in epidemic areas where the elderly are especially vulnerable.
So far, Cambodia has received two vaccines: Sinopharm’s initial batch of 600,000 doses, and Astra Zeneca, 320,000, doses through the Covax initiative. Khmer Times
