Chief of Khmer Rouge’s S-21 Prison Dies at 77
Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 2 – Duch, the former director of the Khmer Rouge’s S-21 interrogation center in Phnom Penh’s Tuol Sleng, has passed away due to illness at 00:51 a.m on 2 September 2020, Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia Spokesman Neth Pheaktra told Fresh News.
In 2010, Duch, whose real name was Kaing Guek Eav, was convicted of crimes against humanity and war crimes for his role at S-21, where as many as 16,000 men, women and children were brutalised before being systematically exterminated, according to reports.
