Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, said that the Royal Government of Cambodia is currently providing subsidies to about 170,000 workers in the garment and tourism sector, with each given US$ 40 per month during Covid-19 infections.

The remarks were made when Samdech Techo paid a visit to the Freshwater Aquaculture Research and Development Centre in Peamro district, Prey Veng province on Tuesday morning.

According to Samdech Techo Prime Minister, as of July 13, 2020, about 520,000 poor and vulnerable families were provided with cash in the amount of 92 billion Riels about US$23 million.

The Cambodian Premier also said that as planned the Government will support the poor for two months during the Covid-19, and the support will continue for another 4 months if the situation fails to be improved.

The Cambodian Premier continued appealing to workers returning from Thailand who lose their jobs to return to the agricultural sector, in order to promote agriculture.
