The health condition of the 10 remaining COVID-19-infected patients is good and there are no significant or worsening symptoms, Dr. Ly Sovann, Director of Communicable Disease Control Department, and a Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health told AKP.

All the remaining patients are hospitalized in Phnom Penh, eight of them at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship hospital, and the rest at Chak Ange Krom hospital, he pointed out.

Dr. Sovann took this opportunity to re-appeal to people to keep their vigilance of the second wave of COVID-19 infections.

“Even though the last recorded cases were all imported and we have controlled the situation well and effectively through the introduction of various measures, the risk of the second wave is still high. We need to continue our high vigilance […], especially to strengthen health screenings of all passengers coming to Cambodia, both foreigners and Cambodians, at all border gates […] along with 14-day quarantine before allowing them to resume their normal lives,” he underlined.

Local people must keep practicing physical and social distancing as there is no sign of COVID-19’s retreat in the world as well as in countries in ASEAN and around Cambodia, he added.

As the situation of COVID-19 pandemic in Cambodia is under control, museums, sports activities, casinos … have been allowed to resume their operations but under conditions. In addition, schools will also be reopened, but in three stages by starting with schools with high prevention standards against the virus.

As of this morning, Cambodia reported 141 positive cases including 69 Cambodians, 40 French, 13 Malaysians, five British, three Chinese, three Vietnamese, two Americans, three Indonesians, two Canadians, and one Belgian. Most of them are imported cases. Of them, 131 have recovered. C. Nika – AKP
