Distribution of pornographic materials deterred

The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts has warned online users and content producers to cease releasing any content that negatively affect the country’s culture and tradition.

In a statement issued Friday, the ministry said all forms of content that provoke sexualisation, racial discrimination and social disorder must not be distributed because these could affect the country’s dignity, traditions and culture.

The warning came after a number of websites and online users, especially online businesses, songwriters, and singers, were seen publishing such illicit contents.

“The ministry’s disciplinary and accolade council has noticed many contents being shared online currently contain many kinds of negative and unethical messages,” it said, adding that the contents had pornographic, racial and discriminatory messages.

The ministry said that if anyone continued to engage in producing such illegal contents, the council, in cooperation with the Ministries of Interior, Information, Posts and other relevant institutions, will take legal action against them.

Last month, Culture Minister Phoeurng Sackona said measures will be taken against those that disseminated content downgrading the country’s customs and traditions.

Heng Long, director of an Artist Association Board Director, said: “The association always issues warnings to any artistes posting unethical contents.”
