Prime Minister praises journalists for reporting facts about Covid-19
Prime Minister Hun Sen praised journalists who are putting a lot of effort into sharing information to the public, particularly on the topic of Covid-19.
In a letter from Mr Hun Sen released yesterday to coincide with World Press Freedom Day 2020 to be held on May 3, he said the Covid-19 status in Cambodia is in an early-stage, which resulted in no deaths. He said this good result is an effort of journalists in the Kingdom to curb the spread of Covid-19 to the community.
“This is the result of the efforts and preventive measures of the government, including the capability of local doctors and journalists who provided factual information to the public,” said Mr Hun Sen.
He noted that journalists also collect information from the public for the government in time which makes good cooperation between the government and the media.
Mr Hun Sen stressed that the spread of fake news is more dangerous than the spread of disease in the generation of social media. To fight against fake news, Mr Hun Sen urged all local reporters to collaborate to combat fake news by sharing more factual information.
