PM: Cambodians Coming Home Not Required To Have Health Certificate
Cambodian people holding Cambodian passports are not required to have a health certificate when entering the Kingdom.
The new measure was announced by Prime Minister Hun Sen in a Facebook post this morning.
As explained by the Premier, the measure is aimed to facilitate the return of Cambodians who have stuck abroad to be able to reunite with their respective families in the country as soon as possible.
But upon their arrival, he underlined, they must have their samples tested for COVID-19 and they are supposed to wait for about 24 hours to be cleared with a negative test result before being allowed in, yet they will also have to carry out 14-day self-quarantine at their respective homes.
On May 20, 2020, Cambodia has announced to revoke its entry bans for six nationalities from Iran, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the U.S., imposed since mid-March 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
It stated at that time that all passengers, both Cambodians and foreigners, entering Cambodia are required to have a health certificate, issued by competent health authorities in the respective countries no more than 72 hours prior to the date of travel, certifying that they have been tested negative for COVID-19.
Moreover, it continued, the foreign nationals must provide proof of insurance that shows a minimum medical coverage during their intended stay in the Kingdom in the amount of not less than US$50,000.
The requirements for health certificate and insurance are not for foreigners holding diplomatic visa (Visa A) or official visa (Visa B) of Cambodia, it stressed.
Upon entry into Cambodia’s territory, the same source added, all people will be subject to a health risk assessment and screened by competent government officers before being allowed to enter the country. They will be subject to a mandatory isolation, quarantine or any other measures for the prevention and containment of this virus as prescribed by the Ministry of Health of Cambodia.
As of this morning, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cambodia remains at 124 cases after no new cases reported for nearly a week, of them 122 have been cured successfully.
