On the morning of 26 January 2026, at the Peace Palace, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received courtesy call from His Excellency Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command.

During the meeting, His Excellency Admiral Samuel Paparo expressed his pleasure at meeting Samdech Borvor Thipadei once again during his second visit to Cambodia. He expressed his satisfaction with and high appreciation for the positive progress in U.S.–Cambodia relations, particularly in the area of defence cooperation. At the same time, His Excellency Admiral Samuel Paparo thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for allowing a U.S. Navy vessel to dock at Ream Naval Base, noting that this reflects the deepening military relations between the two countries.

In response, Samdech Borvor Thipadei highly valued the excellent military cooperation between the two countries over the years and emphasised that the recent docking of a U.S. Navy ship in Cambodia represents a tangible outcome of the steadily strengthening bilateral relationship. Samdech Borvor Thipadei expressed his firm belief that relations between the two countries will continue to be further strengthened and expanded. On this occasion, Samdech Borvor Thipadei also conveyed his deep gratitude to His Excellency President Donald J. Trump for his vital role in facilitating the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire and for witnessing the signing of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration on 26 October 2025 in Malaysia. Samdech Borvor Thipadei further informed His Excellency Admiral Samuel Paparo that Cambodia has received an invitation from President Donald J. Trump to join the “Board of Peace” and confirmed Cambodia’s acceptance, demonstrating its goodwill and strong commitment to the promotion of global peace.

Furthermore, Samdech Borvor Thipadei briefed His Excellency Admiral Samuel Paparo on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia–Thailand border situation and reaffirmed Cambodia’s clear position of strictly respecting the ceasefire and the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration, while adhering to the peaceful resolution of disputes based on international law, treaties, and existing agreements, with the aim of achieving lasting peace along the border.

In reply, His Excellency Admiral Samuel Paparo informed Samdech Borvor Thipadei that President Donald J. Trump continues to pay close attention to the Cambodia–Thailand border situation and the implementation of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration. His Excellency Admiral Samuel Paparo highlighted the constructive role of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and reaffirmed that the United States continues to support the continuation of the AOT mechanism, as well as the acceleration of the JBC process for demarcation of the border between the two countries.
