(Kuala Lumpur, 21 October 2025) — The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has announced that the General Border Committee (GBC) Secretariat Meeting between Cambodia and Thailand officially commenced yesterday evening at 18:00 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to H.E. Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, both delegations engaged in discussions and exchanged documents to prepare for the upcoming 2nd Special GBC Meeting, which is scheduled to take place on 23 October 2025. The meeting aims to further strengthen the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire, promote practical cooperation for peace and stability along the border, and facilitate the swift return to normalcy between the two neighboring nations.

The Cambodian delegation is led by Major General Nhem Boraden, Chief of the Cambodian GBC Secretariat, while the Thai delegation is headed by Lieutenant General Nuttapong Praokaew, Chief of the Thai GBC Secretariat.

The GBC Secretariat Meeting is being held from 20 to 22 October 2025, under the observership of several key parties, including the Heads of the Interim Observer Teams (IOT) of both Cambodia and Thailand, representatives from the U.S. Military Attachés Offices to Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia, as well as Malaysian representatives.

The ongoing coordination between both sides reflects a mutual commitment to peace, dialogue, and the peaceful resolution of border-related issues through established mechanisms and constructive military-to-military cooperation.
