BREAKING: Thai military fired mortar rounds and small arms on Cambodian territory

Phnom Penh, September 27, 2025 – The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has strongly condemned an attack launched by Thai military forces against Cambodian positions along the border.

Her Excellency Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokeswoman for the Ministry, reported that at approximately 11:52 AM on September 27, 2025, Thai forces opened fire with mortar rounds and small arms at a Cambodian military base in the An Seh area.

She confirmed that Cambodian armed forces are closely monitoring the situation with the utmost vigilance and remain fully prepared to safeguard the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Ministry reaffirmed Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to fully respect and implement the ceasefire agreement reached between Cambodia and Thailand. It emphasized the importance of close cooperation at all levels, calling for concrete measures to restore peace and stability along the border.

Cambodia also urged Thailand to strictly honor its obligations under the ceasefire, stressing the urgent need for both sides to work toward a swift return to normalcy.
