Phnom Penh, September 16, 2025 – The Cambodian National Police, led by General Seang Tharith, Deputy Director General of the National Police of Cambodia, will meet with the Royal Thai Provincial Police in Sa Kaeo Province, Thailand, to review efforts to strengthen cooperation in preventing and suppressing cross-border crimes.

The meeting will also address the growing challenge of online scams, which both sides recognize as a pressing issue.

This initiative follows the outcomes of the 1st Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting, held on September 10, 2025, in Koh Kong Province, Cambodia, where both governments agreed that their Ministries of Interior and National Police would meet within a week to establish a joint task force. This task force will be tasked with developing an action plan to combat cross-border crimes.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has reaffirmed its determination to combat all forms of transnational crime, including online fraud. Cambodia also expressed hope that the Thai Government will demonstrate the same level of commitment to ensure the safety and security of citizens in both nations.
