Cambodia and Japan are committed to fostering relations and cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces.

The commitment was made in a meeting between H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), and visiting H.E. Gen. Morishita Yasunori, Chief of Staff of the Ground Self-Defence Force of Japan, on June 24.

H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen spoke highly of the visit of H.E. Gen. Morishita Yasunori to Cambodia, emphasising that it will further strengthen and expand the relations and cooperation between the two armies, as well as the two military leaders.

The Commander-in-Chief greatly valued the strong military cooperation between Cambodia and Japan so far and pledged that the RCAF will continue to implement the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cambodia-Japan military cooperation approved in 2013 in Tokyo.

He was positive that both armies will boost more cooperation on human resources training, exchanges of visits at all levels, information exchanges, joint efforts to combat terrorism and transnational crime, and humanitarian disaster relief cooperation.
