Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet held talks this morning with H.E. Gen. MORISHITA Yasunori, Chief of Staff of the Ground Self-Defence Force of Japan, during his visit to Cambodia.

During the meeting, H.E. Gen. MORISHITA Yasunori expressed his satisfaction and high appreciation for the strong relations and growing cooperation between the armies of Cambodia and Japan. He stated that his visit aims to further promote the strengthening and expansion of collaboration, particularly in human resource training for the Cambodian army.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet warmly welcomed H.E. Gen. MORISHITA to Cambodia, especially to Siem Reap—the land of the glorious Angkor civilisation.

The Premier extended his gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for their continued contributions to Cambodia’s development, including their support in preserving the country’s cultural heritage and ancient temples. He also acknowledged Japan’s important role as co-chair of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Sites of Angkor (ICC-Angkor).

Samdech Thipadei further expressed his satisfaction with the progress of Cambodia–Japan relations, particularly the fruitful military-to-military cooperation between the two nations.

He emphasised that ongoing collaboration has helped foster mutual understanding and connectivity between the two armies, especially in humanitarian areas.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister encouraged both sides to explore the potential for further cooperation, particularly in joint training exercises focused on disaster response and mine clearance.
