Senate President Renews Call for Cambodian Migrant Workers in Thailand to Return Home
President of the Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has once again urged Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand to return home.
Delivering a special statement during the 3rd session of the Senate this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed strong support for the Royal Government of Cambodia’s directive to all relevant ministries and provincial administrations to assist and facilitate the return of Cambodian workers from Thailand.
“As long as they are Cambodian, they are welcome—whether or not they possess official documents,” he emphasised, adding that Competent authorities along the border are ready to assist their return.
“We cannot rely on others our whole lives. We cannot stay in Thailand forever,” the Senate President stated. “Now is the right time. As long as the border issues remain unresolved, discrimination and insults will persist. We should return to our homeland before we are forcibly expelled.”
Samdech Techo Hun Sen added that while Cambodia previously lacked sufficient employment opportunities, the situation has now changed. “Thousands of jobs are available in industry, agriculture, and construction,” he said.
