Hun Manet has encouraged the  and the Royal Cambodian Army (RCA) of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) to maintain closer communication to strengthen and expand their cooperation.

The Cambodian Premier made this encouragement when he received General Ronald P. Clark, Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC), at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon.

Highly appreciating the outcomes of the bilateral meeting between General Mao Sophan, RCAF Deputy Commander-in-Chief and RCA Commander, and General Ronald P. Clark, Hun Manet emphasised that the frequent exchange of visits between the armies of both countries, along with ongoing cooperation in various activities such as training, reflects the progress in the relationship between the two nations.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the U.S. government for supporting Cambodia in its mine clearance and unexploded ordnance disposal efforts, emphasising that, “in the past, Cambodia was a country that received UN peacekeeping forces, but now, Cambodia has transformed into a nation that sends forces to participate in peacekeeping missions around the world.”

In turn, General Ronald P. Clark underscored the importance of people-to-people relations and the strong military cooperation between the two countries, highlighting that the U.S. wishes to see progress in these relations, particularly between the two militaries.

He praised Cambodia’s active contribution to world peace by dispatching peacekeeping forces under the UN umbrella to various countries globally.

General Ronald P. Clark has been on a two-day official visit to Cambodia to enhance military relations between the two nations.
