APSARA National Authority will restore the Prohm Kel temple
The Prohm Kel temple, a hospital during the reign of Jayavarman VII, is located on the northwest side of Angkor Wat.
Mr. Sim Thorn, Deputy Director of the Department of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology, said that Prohm Kel temple was severely damaged, some stones fell down and the central tower had collapsed to the other side. So the restoration project will be taking place with the authorization of APSARA National Authority and ICC-Angkor.
He said that the restoration will be planned for a year to complete, divided into three phases. First, the preparation of documents, excavation to study the structure of the temple, the stone numbering, and assembly of stones. Second, start to assemble the stones and strengthen the foundation. Finally, we will assemble all the stones and put them back in their original location.
