Typhoon ‘CEMPAKA’ to bring strong winds and rain to Cambodia
The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has announced the following weather warning:
From 19 to 22 July 2021, Cambodia will have moderate to heavy rain mixed with strong winds.
The sixth typhoon, “IN-FA”, formed in the Pacific Ocean at 1 p.m. last night has evolved into a typhoon and headed to east China.
On the morning of July 19, a tidal wave in the China Sea near Hong Kong intensified into the seventh new typhoon, CEMPAKA in the upper South China Sea, Southern China.
According to the forecast, CEMPAKA, along with strong southwest monsoon winds coupled with the ITCZ low pressure system, will affect Cambodia.
This will make the weather situation in Cambodia from 19 to 22 July 2021 as below:
- Provinces in the lowland areas will have moderate to heavy scattered rain mixed with strong gusts.
- Provinces in the Mekong River area, Dangrek mountain range and Cardamom mountain range will have moderate to heavy rain mixed with strong gusts.
- Coastal areas will receive heavy rainfall, which will cause flash floods in Sihanoukville and Koh Kong provinces. On the sea surface, there will be rain, strong winds and high waves.
In light of the above-mentioned weather conditions, the public should be informed, especially fishermen and seafarers, please be extra careful to avoid any possible accidents. Khmer Times
