Oddar Meanchey Province, November 1, 2025 (AKP) — The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the Royal Thai Armed Forces have officially commenced the first phase of heavy weapon withdrawal from the border area at 6:00 p.m. on November 1, 2025, marking another significant milestone in the ongoing peace implementation process between the two neighboring nations.
Under this initial phase, both sides are relocating heavy weaponry from previously disputed zones back to their original military bases, in accordance with the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration, signed by the Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025.
The entire operation is being conducted under the supervision and verification of the ASEAN Observer Teams (AOT) stationed in both Cambodia and Thailand, ensuring that the process adheres fully to the principles of transparency, mutual trust, and confidence-building.
This withdrawal reflects the strong political will and shared commitment of both countries to de-escalate military tensions, uphold the ceasefire agreement, and foster a climate of peace, stability, and cooperation along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
